To understand place values of decimal I played a game with Yazmin, Andrea, and Samuel. We all took turns rolling two types of dice. One dice had fraction on it and the other dice just had numbers on it.

In my first picture, 1 whole is divided into tenths. Andrea roll the dice and it land it on two tenths. The red represents two tenths.

In the second picture, 1 whole is divided into hundredths. I rolled the dice and it gave us seven hundredths. I colored it in with the colour yellow.

In the last picture, 1 whole is divided into thousandths. This time Yazmin rolled the dice and it landed on nine thousandths. The colour red represents nine thousands.

I found this game very easy because I had a good understanding of place values of decimals. I didn't find anything difficult. Next I will like to learn about percentages.

the Black Piranha

WALT: write a descriptive paragraph

It was a wonderful Saturday afternoon for fishing. The sun was up shining very bright. My father Jonathan loves fishing. He would go out for fishing nearly every day to catch fish for supper. On every Saturday (if it’s a nice weather), he would take his son out for fishing.

They were fishing along one of South Americas rivers. This was Jonathan's favourite river because he would mostly catch a black piranha. Jonathan wanted to catch a black piranha so he can show it to Luke. Luke has never seen a black piranha before so his father wanted to surprise him.

As they were fishing, Luke’s fishing rod was coming back up so his dad went over to help him pull it up. To their surprise it was a black piranha. Luke was so surprised. His dad was so happy that Luke caught a black piranha.

The Black Piranha is distinctive and has a very dark colour. Its teeth are very sharp and it's a fearsome hunter. The Black Piranha has a tatty body because other Piranha come and eat the tail and fins. This fish has a stocky body and burning red eyes. This fish moves incredibly fast. Watch out for the black piranha because it can bite you.

When it was time to leave, Luke was smiling all the way to the car. He was so happy that he caught a black piranha. Fishing has become so fun that Luke wanted to go every weekend.

Milo Mug

WALT: Design our own NZ milo mug

First we had to draw 4 or 5 design on a piece of paper. The design was based on New Zealand patterns.
When we finished drawing our designs we had to select one drawing and then outline it on the mug with a pencil. After that we have to go over the outline with a vivid. This is how my mug turned out.

Hockey

Today in the morning we went to hockey. A lady named Lydia was coaching us. First we did a warm up and then we went to go sit behind a hockey stick. Before we started Lydia told us about a safety rule. She told us to keep the hockey stick below our knees and to also bend your knees so you won’t get a sore back.
