WALT: create a garden with a pool using square units

I found this interesting and easy. I enjoyed doing this and this was my dream garden with a pool and I hope someday it might come true. By doing this I learned the concept of area and how much things cost in the real world.

ANZAC Ceremony

unnamed.jpg
WALT: Commemorate ANZAC day

Students from room 11 and 12 planted the white cross in front of the school sign. They planted these cross to remember the new Zealand soldiers who fought in WW1. I was away when they planted these white crosses so I didn’t get a chance to plant one.

Spending time with my family in the holidays

On Friday 3rd of April we went to Papakura to visit my uncle and also have a bbq there.  It was fun spending time at my uncles house because after the bbq we went to Hunua waterfalls and we had a swim there. The water was freezing cold I couldn't even move. We spend our time swimming and taking photos around the Hunua waterfalls. When the sun came down we went back to my uncles house and we had some ice-cream because it was getting hot. Spending time at the Hunua waterfalls was fun especially spending time with my family at my uncles house.

Maths with Bina

WALT: solving problems

FullSizeRender (2).jpg

This morning for maths a lady name Bina came to our class to teach us about solving problems. Mrs Bina is a maths facilitator. She was teaching us about fractions. First she told us to solve the problem by ourselves and she split us into groups. I was working with Robin, Yazmin, and Petuana. We had to share our ideas with each other. I found this easy because we worked together as a group to solve the problem. Next I want to learn about equivalent fractions.

World War One - Letter

WALT: write a letter

Field Hospital, Gallipoli
March 1914

Dear Mom and Dad
My life as a nurse is great even though there are many injuries but I can manage to get through it. Helping the soldiers is fun but sometimes sad because others soldiers lose their life.

I am living in a tent with all the other nurses. Sometimes we go to the trenches and visit the soldiers and check if they are alright. When we have food we eat meat and bread. For drink we have water. Sometimes we don’t have enough water.

It is tough living life as a nurse for the soldiers. Last night one of your nurse died because of the disease. This disease have been spreading because of the food we eat. Now there is only 19 nurses left because some of the nurses keep dying because of the disease. Luckily I am not infected.

The weather here is very bad. It rains heavily. Our tents and blankets get soaked and we can’t go to sleep. Sometimes it gets very hot the mud gets dry and our blankets get stiff because the mud is dry on our blankets.

While the soldiers are at war we prepare the medicine and bandages for their injuries.

By the way how is Tom and Mara are they doing alright. Please pass my regards on  to those who knows me. Okay, hope to see you in a few years. Its time to go and help the soldiers now.

Trenches

WALT: working in a group

webcam-toy-photo3.jpg

This is the model of the trench we made in our group from World War One. I worked with Ketura we used playdough to

We made this model because we are studying about World War One. Trenches are places soldiers lived.
First we had to do some research. When we finished doing our research we drew a plan of our trench in our book. Then we got playdough to design our trench.
I found this easy because Ketura and I worked together as a team and manage to finish. We made sandbags, a rat, and a gun.
We didn't paint it because we didn't have time.

I still want to learn more about World War One
